2021. “Crit Group Reunion” @ The Contemporary Austin
Crit Group Reunion, Chapter 2: Facing Each Other
November 20, 2021 – January 16, 2022 @ The Contemporary Austin, Austin, TX
Crit Group Reunion brings together artists who have participated in the museum’s Crit Group program, showcasing the spectrum of contemporary art in Austin. With seven to eight artists participating each year, since its founding Crit Group has generated a network of approximately sixty artists working in various artistic mediums—from painting and sculpture, textiles and ceramics, to performance, video, and sound installation. Crit Group Reunion is organized by Robin K. Williams, Associate Curator, and co-curated with Andrea Mellard, former Director of Public Programs & Community Engagement. The Contemporary Austin gratefully acknowledges the past Crit Group program co-leaders, who selected the artists in the program and led critique discussions: Andrea Mellard, Sterling Allen, Sarah Bancroft, Andy Campbell, and Annette DiMeo Carlozzi. Thanks also to Jill Schroeder and grayDUCK Gallery for hosting the annual Crit Group program cohort exhibitions since 2014.
